GLS provides services at the GLS Atlanta Library located inside of the Fulton County Library System Central Branch. GLS Atlanta Library serves its patrons in accordance to the patron service standards of the Fulton County Library System. Likewise, all GLS patrons are expected to abide by the Code of Conduct established by the Fulton County Library System. In addition to the Code of Conduct established by Fulton County Library System, GLS patrons are expected to refrain from the following behaviors while in the library:

      • Verbally or physically threatening or harassing other patrons, volunteers, or staff.
      • Disobeying the reasonable direction of a library staff member and/or library security officer.
      • Damaging, altering, stealing, or using Library property inappropriately.
      • Fighting or challenging to fight, running, pushing, shoving, or throwing objects of any kind.
      • Making loud disruptive noises of any kind.
      • Entering or being in the Library barefoot and/or without a shirt.
      • Bringing skateboards, bicycles, or scooters inside Library facilities.
      • Blocking aisles, entrances, or exits or in any manner impeding access to public areas.
      • Engaging in any form of sexual misconduct, including exposure, offensive touching, or sexual harassment of other patrons, volunteers or staff.
      • Misusing restrooms.
      • Neglecting to provide proper supervision of children.
      • Engaging in any activity in violation of Federal, State, local or other applicable law, or Library policy.
      • Being under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs, or selling, using, or possessing alcohol, illegal drugs, or drug paraphernalia.

Any of the above described behaviors, or infractions included in the library’s Code of Conduct, may result in a patron being asked to leave the library. In the event that a patron is asked to leave the GLS library, that patron will be subject to the rules in effect at Fulton County Library System. Patrons who repeatedly violate the established Code of Conduct may be suspended from the library as defined by Fulton County Library System or by the GLS library itself. Suspension from visiting the library does not necessarily suspend a customer from using telephone or online delivery of National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled (NLS) resources. If a patron’s abuse involves misuse of library resources or verbal abuse of telephone staff, that patron’s name will be referred to NLS and options for providing services discussed. Any appeal for re-instatement of library visitation privileges will be based on policies in effect for the library.
