GLS serves persons with limited English proficiency though provision of materials in languages other than English. The National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled (NLS) collection, the primary resource that GLS provides to its patrons, contains materials in many languages other than English. NLS acquires audio and braille titles in several international languages from various domestic and international producers, as well as from cooperating agencies serving people around the world who cannot read standard print. NLS produces its application and many of their informational flyers in Spanish. Likewise, Bookshare provides access to many books written in languages other than English. Both NLS and Bookshare host book lists for materials in languages other than English. GLS staff will seek interpretation services as appropriate when requested by a patron who has limited English proficiency.
